Sharad is working with the Institute for Transformative Technologies’ rural electrification team in New Delhi to develop products and services. He has over fifteen years of experience in developing, consulting and managing projects in the development and corporate sectors. Since the last eight years he has focused on the application of renewable energy technologies for mini-grids and utility-scale solar facilities in the states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Prior to ITT, he worked with Development Alternatives, Technology and Action for Rural Advancement (TARA), and Gamesa Renewables in the space of renewable energy projects, powering both mini-grids and main grids.
Sharad has played a critical role in the design, execution, and management of Rockefeller Foundation’s thirty-village electrification projects–the Smart Power for Rural Development (SPRD), and the Smart Power for Environmentally Sound Economic Development (SPEED). He also played a pivotal role in the execution of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation’s project ‘Village Electrification through Sustainable use of Renewable Energy’ (VE-SuRE) in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. For the SPRD projects, he helped develop and test various models for rural electrification, load management, and revenue collection systems.
Sharad holds a Bachelor of Science in electronics and an MBA from the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Maharashtra. He enjoys travelling, especially exploring national parks and wildlife reserves. He likes listening to music, and watching sports. He is fluent in Hindi, English and Marathi.
